1st DAY: SEKOLAH PELANGI KASIH
















On the 22nd of April,  2017, the Spirit team left again from UM Central to reach sekolah Pelangi Kasih at 8.30 and start a long day of activities and teaching with the young children.

As children from the ages of 5 till mid teens arrived grinning,  smiling,  shyly but excited,  the first ice breaking session began.  This involved some aerobics and dancing to wake the kids up and re-energize the whole team.  There was nearly half an hour of light aerobics,  and dancing on some of the children's favourite songs such as gummy bear and shi shua shua.  The children thoroughly enjoyed this, as did the team.  

Then began the task of starting the day's activities.  The children were pre divided into groups red,  yellow and green according to age groups and level of understanding,  blue being the youngest and green the eldest of the group.  

The ice breaking session for each team began.  The red team were involved in drawing,  writing their names and the alphabets and numbers,  the yellow team's children were taught alphabets,  mathematics (addition and subtraction) and sentence construction, and the green team tough the children Malay language,  mathematics (addition and subtraction) and vocabulary in English.

After this came the breakfast of bread and jam for the children.  

Having enjoyed the meals the teams were then involved in activities again.  The next learning session had the red team learning capital and small letters, the yellow and green team were taught English and maths (continued from last lesson)  and origami.  The yellow teams was also involved in story telling.  

After this the teams land children took a lunch and prayer break.  

Following the break,  session continued,  this time with coloring and poster making for each of the three teams.  And some small games to keep the children entertained.  

This session ended with photo session with the children and closing for the day.  After the closing the team had a post mortem with the coach and received helpful feedback.
